GOVT TO CLAMP CURFEW TODAY

Curfew Clamped Across Valley

Srinagar, Mar 7: In view of the prevailing situation in Kashmir the government has decided to clamp curfew in Srinagar and other parts of the valley on Friday, while the admit cards for examinations would be treated as curfew passes.

Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Baseer Ahmad Khan told no movement of public or vehicles would be allowed in district Srinagar on Friday. “In view of law and order situation and to avoid breach of peace and tranquility and damage to life and property, and in exercise of the powers vested to District Magistrate under Section 144 CrPC restrictions have been imposed on the movement of public and transport in entire district Srinagar from midnight of March 7, till further orders,” he said and added that Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Srinagar has been directed to implement this order in letter and spirit.
A top police officer told Greater Kashmir that with the apprehensions of protests, curfew will remain imposed in all major towns of the valley. “We will take all measures to ensure peace,” he said.
Speaking to Greater Kashmir, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Dr Asgar Hussain Samoon said in view of curfew, the roll number slips of the candidates appearing in different examination would be treated as curfew passes. “I have directed all the Deputy Commissioners that no student should face any problem in reaching to his respective examination center,” Dr Samoon said.
SSB POSTPONES MEASUREMENT TEST
Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board (SSB) has decided to postpone the physical measurement test for the post of Forester which was scheduled to be held on March 8.
“It is for the information of the candidates having Serial Number. 001 to 900, whose physical measurement test for the post of Forester Divisional cadre Kashmir was scheduled to be held on March 8, 2013 at District Police Lines, Srinagar, is postponed and shall now be held on 25th of March, 2012. However, the rest of the schedule will remain unchanged,” said Chairman of SSB, Muhammad Afzal Bhat.
Bhat said that in case of any of the candidates missing the examination due to prevailing situation, board will announce further dates for those candidates.
ADMIT CARDS OF CCE ASPIRANTS TO BE TREATED AS CURFEW PASSES
Deputy Secretary, Public Service Commission said that the admit cards containing photographs of the candidates would be treated as Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) (KAS Mains).
He said for the conduct of the said examination in Kashmir division examination centre has been set up at Government Amar Singh College, Srinagar where as many as 479 candidates shall appear in the CCE.
