Curfew in Old Srinagar, Maisuma today

Srinagar, Mar 15: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Dr Asgar Hussain Samoon Friday said that curfew would be lifted from most parts of Kashmir on Saturday. However, he was quick to add that some areas of old Srinagar would continue to remain under curfew.

Dr Samoon said: “Situation remained peaceful throughout the Valley on Friday. We have decided to lift the curfew on Saturday from most areas of the valley but a few areas of old city would remain under curfew as a precautionary measure.”
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Baseer Ahmad Khan told that besides old Srinagar, curfew will remain in force in jurisdiction of police station Maisuma.
A senior police officer here said that adequate deployment of forces would remain across the valley. “In case situation demands, restrictions can be imposed in areas after proper consultation with the concerned Magistrates,” he said.
According to District Magistrate Srinagar, the valid Identity Cards of the employees of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution department, Srinagar Municipal Corporation and Radio Kashmir besides Doordashan Kendra, Srinagar shall be treated as curfew passes during curfew hours.

KU EXAMS POSTPONED:
All Kashmir University examinations scheduled to be held on March 16 (Saturday) have been postponed, a KU spokesman said. He said fresh dates would be notified separately.
