Spurious Drug Scam – Taj Names Sham Lal as main Culprit
‘Have Documentary Evidence Against Former Health Minister’
Day after former Health Minister Sham Lal Sharma accused fellow party men of hatching conspiracy against him to ‘sabotage the ongoing enquiry into the PHE scam’, Medical Education Minister and senior Congress leader Taj Mohi-ud-Din Tuesday said that health department was full of scams and the documentary evidence suggests that Sharma was involved in the spurious drug scam.
“I have already said that I have no skeletons in my cupboard, but yes Health Department under Sham Lal Sharma has been full of scandals,” Taj told local news gathering agency KNS on Tuesday. He rejected the charges of his fellow party colleague and said, that the sampling and testing of the ‘spurious’ drugs has been done in his own (Sham’s) tenure as Health Minster. Sham is presently holding the PHE portfolio.
“Both sampling and testing has taken place when he (Sharma) was the Health Minister so where do you find a role for politics in it”, asserted Taj adding that the matter was serious and there was documentary evidence which proves that substandard medicine was supplied to hospitals.
Earlier, while terming the infamous ‘drug scam’ as a political conspiracy against him, PHE Minster Sham Lal Sharma on Monday said that there was a lobby in his party which was hell bent to sabotage the enquiry he had initiated against his predecessor Taj Mohi-ud-Din in massive pipe purchase scandal.
“Ever since I assumed charge of PHE, my rivals began hatching conspiracies against me with an intention to thwart the ongoing enquiry in the PHE scams,” Sharma told KNS on Tuesday. He also said that politics was being played behind the curtains to frame him in order to sabotage the PHE enquiry.
Meanwhile, ridiculing Sham’s accusation, Medical Education Minister Taj Mohi-ud-Din said that minister (Sham) was ‘neck deep’ involved in the “spurious drug” scam.
