Curfew was imposed in Jammu on Friday following tension between two communities.
Authorities imposed an indefinite curfew in Poonch town of Jammu region as tension mounted after a girl was allegedly beaten up by a boy.
“Curfew was imposed this morning as a precautionary measure,” a senior police officer said.
Clashes erupted between the two communities following a report that a girl belonging to one community was beaten up in public by a local auto-rickshaw driver belonging to another community in Poonch, said police.
Poonch is situated 250 km from Jammu.
Officials said more security personnel were rushed to Poonch to maintain law and order.
