
Kishtwar tense after gang rape of minor girl
Tension gripped Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday following the gang rape of a minor girl.
The 13-year-old girl was gangraped on Monday night. The police have arrested one accused while another is at large.
Reports said that the survivor was overpowered by the accused Sudesh Kumar and Nitin Chand who raped her in an isolated place in Drabshala village. She told her caretaker about the rape who brought the matter to the police.
The news of rape spread in the area and the people took to the streets on Tuesday demanding action against the accused. They tried to block the Kishtwar-Jammu highway but were pacified the village elders
Superintendent of police, Kishtwar, Sanjay Kotwal, DSP (HQ) Nazir Ahmed Ganie and officials of district administration rushed to the spot and assured the agitators that stern action will be taken against the accused.
Police also told them that one has been arrested and a case of rape has been registered.
Police teams are conducting raids at various locations to arrest the other accused. The girl was sent back to her family after conducting a medical examination.
