Asks people to assemble at Jamia Masjid for procession to municipal park
Srinagar, June 13: Asking people to make scheduled June 20 convention -‘50 years of Resistance’ at SK Municipal Park a success, Kashmir’s head priest and Hurriyat (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Dr Umar Farooq Friday said “mission of Martyrs will be taken to its logical conclusion.”
“Since the formation of Muslim Conference in Kashmir by Muhajre-e-Millat Mirwaiz Yousuf Shah in 1931 and its transformation into Awami Action Committee (AAC) in 1964 by Shaheed—e-Millat Molvi Muhammad Farooq, the party leadership and activists have always stood firm on their basic principle without wavering and now the party is completing its ‘50 years of Resistance’,” Mirwaiz said at the Friday congregation at Jamia Masjid.
He stressed upon the people to make the golden jubilee celebrations of AAC “a grand success by ensuring their valuable participation.”
Mirwaiz stated: “While the party was feeling delighted and proud for completing 50 years, but at the same time it is imperative at this juncture to show complete steadfastness and make a resolve to take the mission of the Martyrs towards its logical conclusion.”
About the scheduled convention, he asked participants to gather at Jamia Masjid Nowhatta from where they would peacefully leave for municipal park in a procession.
GETS OIC INVITE
Meanwhile Mirwaiz has been officially invited to attend the 41st Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation which will be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia from June 16 to 18. “Hurriyat has an observer status in OIC and the organization has been at the forefront to support the Kashmir cause on political and diplomatic fronts,” a party handout said.
