CM skips road travel, takes helicopter ride
Traffic mess remained so unmanageable on the Airport Road Wednesday that Chief Minister Omer Abdullah had to take a helicopter ride from the Srinagar International Airport to Cheshma Shahi helipad where from he drove to his Gupkar residence.
Highly placed sources said as the CM landed at the Srinagar airport, given the massive traffic jams ahead, it wasn’t found feasible for his cavalcade to make a way out on the Airport Road.
“How could Chief Minister’s cavalcade be let to get stranded in three kilometer long traffic jam… We suggested that he takes a helicopter ride,” said a senior official in the CM’s secretariat.
Meanwhile officials said an inquiry has been initiated into why senior officials didn’t rush to the spot in time to pacify the protesters.
