‘Examining Koul commission report on Shopian killings’

Examining Koul commission report on Shopian killingsChief Minister Omar Abdullah Thursday said the report submitted by the one-man panel probing last year’s civilian killings in south Kashmir’s Shopian district is being examined.
“We have received the report yesterday evening and have referred it to the Home department for examination,” Omar told reporters on the sidelines of a function here.
He said the government will take appropriate steps on findings of the report.
“As and when we will get the report from the Home Department (on the findings of the probe), we will conduct the investigation which we need to,” Omar said.
On September 7, 2013, the paramilitary CRPF had killed four persons in Gagren area of Shopian, triggering widespread protests in Kashmir. The Chief Minister later ordered a probe into the incident to be carried out by Justice (retd) ML Koul.
In his report, Koul has indicted CRPF for killing three unarmed civilians while declaring the fourth one as a militant.
