Omar, Mehbooba condemn

Omar, Mehbooba condemnJammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Wednesday condemned the alleged forcing of a Muslim to break his Ramzan fast by some Shiv Sena MPs at Maharashtra Sadan in New Delhi.
The Chief Minister also sought to know how BJP and Shiv Sena would have reacted had a Muslim MP done a similar act.

Expressing outrage at the incident, the Peoples Democratic Party MPs, Tariq Hamid Karra and Mehbooba Mufti, strongly protested against the LokSabha not given a chance to debate the serious issue.
Mehbooba said while it was disturbing that the religious freedom of an individual had been breached by none other than the representatives of the people, the issues involved in the episode are of wider concern.
“Even if it was not a Muslim observing Ramzan fast, nobody has the right to force-feed someone against his wishes,” Mehbooba said, adding, the parliamentarians have set a very bad precedence which, unfortunately, was taken very lightly by the House.
