Anti-Israel protests by NC, PDP a deception: Geelani
Expressing concern over the Israeli plan to launch ground attack in Gaza, chairman Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani Thursday said it could cost hundreds of more innocent lives and render thousands homeless.
Telephonically addressing anti-Israel protesters at Pampore, Geelani termed holy war against Israel as the duty of every Muslim.
Terming Israel an illegal State, Geelani said, “Under a conspiracy this State was established by grabbing the land in Palestine. It is patronized by America, England and India. If we had power and weapons, we would have reached Palestine to help our brethren there but we too are living under the forced control of India. There are lots of similarities in Kashmir and Palestine disputes and both regions are victims of grave human rights violations.”
Terming as deception the anti-Israeli protests by National Conference and other pro-India parties, Geelani said, “It is their vote bank politics and they are doing it for the upcoming Assembly elections. In Kashmir, they are supporting the Indian oppression on people and strengthening New Delhi’s illegal and forced control over Kashmir.”
Reiterating his call for complete boycott of upcoming elections, Geelani said National Conference, PDP and other pro-India parties are helping ‘Indian oppression’ and to vote them is tantamount to strengthening New Delhi.
Thanking the people for observing complete shutdown and staging protests today to express solidity with the oppressed Palestinians, Geelani appealed them to hold peaceful protest demonstrations after Friday prayers on July 18 against the Israeli aggression in Palestine and observe the last Friday of Ramadhan as “Youm-ul-Qudus.”
