BJP’s new slogan for JK polls:‘Dilli Huyi Hamari, Ab Kashmir Ki Bari’
Ahead of Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP leaders are set to begin a vigorous campaign especially in Kashmir with several union ministers tasked “to get in touch with the people on the ground with the party’s election slogan: ‘Dilli Huyi Hamari, Ab Kashmir Ki Bari.’
According to BJP sources, party leaders would be visiting every Assembly segment of Kashmir, Jammu and Ladakh as part of its “Parivartan Yatra” (Campaign for Change). The BJP leaders have coined the slogan ‘Dilli Huyi Hamari, Ab Kashmir Ki Bari’ (Delhi has become ours, it’s time for Kashmir now) for the forthcoming JK assembly polls.
The move to send union ministers to Kashmir in the election year assumes significance given the fact that BJP is eyeing at least five to six seats from Kashmir to ensure accomplishment of its ambitious “Mission 44.”
To begin with, union minister for Agriculture Radhay Mohan Singh will be arriving in Kashmir on August 23 for a two-day visit. “On the first day of his visit, he will inaugurate a Saffron Park at Dussu in Pampore area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district and on the same day he will travel to Sirigufwara (Anantnag) to meet BJP cadres there,” sources in the BJP said.
They said that on August 24, Singh will visit Homeshalibugh Assembly segment of South Kashmir to meet party workers and booth workers and BJP activists who have been assigned respective polling booths to ensure people vote for their party.
Sources said Singh will also visit new office of the party’s Kashmir unit in Srinagar and interact with the office bearers there.
Pertinently, BJP’s National General Secretary J P Nadda in the recently held convention in Srinagar had constituted special teams of booth workers in a bid to ensure that people vote for the BJP in the upcoming elections. The team comprises seven to 10 BJP activists headed by a senior party leader. Sources said each polling booth will have booth workers who would monitor the voting. “The move will help check rigging,” BJP sources said.
Senior BJP leader and JK affair’s in-charge R P Singh said majority of the union ministers would visit Kashmir ahead of polls. “We will fulfill the promise of development,” he said.
On whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi would also visit Kashmir, he said: “Yes, Modiji and many other top leaders of the party will visit at the right time.”
