Police ‘thrash’ civil administration officers
Police Friday morning allegedly thrashed Additional Commissioner Srinagar GM Dar and other civil officials on The Boulevard here when they were trying to hire boats for rescue operations in the flooded City. Dar said police didn’t allow him to hire boats for public use. “They asked me to wait till they hire boats of their choice for their bosses. But when we objected pleading that people were in dire need of the boats, they thrashed us and finally kicked us into waters,” the officials of the civil administration, who protested at Press Enclave here, alleged.
They said as if this was not enough, some senior police officials who were camping at the Nehru Park Police Post “too joined in and beat us to pulp.” The officials said the situation turned so “vulnerable for us and we had to run for cover without hiring rescue boats.” A police official said the matter would be looked into. “Let me check it out, I will get back to you,” he said.
