Delhi, Mumbai airports refuse to carry Kashmir relief

NEW DELHI (APP): The Indian authorities at Delhi and Mumbai airports stopped consignments being sent as relief material to the flood victims in Indian-held Jammu Kashmir.

The airport authorities at Delhi and Mumbai did not allow the relief material meant for flood victims to be lifted to Kashmir, this was disclosed by a number of volunteers, who tried to send different consignments to the territory. “We bought different items including medicines, clothes and blankets for flood victims of Kashmir but the airport authorities refused to carry that,” Rashid Ahmad, a donor whose consignment was stopped at Bangalore airport told journalists.

Similar complaints were received from Delhi airport where different airlines refused to carry the relief material. “With lot of hard work we are collecting all these necessary items for the flood victims of Kashmir, but now they are refusing to allow the material,” said one of the volunteers. “My consignment of medicines which included insulin injections was to be sent from Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu), but the donors informed that the airline refused to pick it up citing the government order on NOCs,” said another volunteer.
