Beware of BJP, Geelani tells people

The Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani Thursday urged religious leaders and clerics to “apprise people about the evil designs of BJP and their anti-Islam ideology.”
In a statement issued here, Geelani said, “I make a passionate appeal to all religious leaders and Imams of Masjids to apprise people about the evil designs of BJP and their anti-Islam ideology.”
Referring to BJP’s election campaign in Kashmir, Geelani said “with all their power, money and material, they are trying hard to make an entry into the state. And for this they, with the help of some stooges from Kashmir and outside state, are carrying their election campaign. We warn our people against their evil designs and ask them to be cautious and beware of BJP which is using religion as a tool and  is hell-bent to exploit religious sentiments while depicting  their false sympathy with Muslim majority.”
Geelani said: “How can Islam flourish in their regime as they are the sworn enemies of Muslims and Islam. Their ideology is quite contrary to ours. Their rhetoric about Kashmiriyat and Islam is misleading.”
Referring to communal harmony in Jammu, Geelani said “it is the impact of teachings of Islam and our age-old traditions and it’s is not because of so-called Kashmiriyat, nor secularism. Islam is a complete code of life and it guarantees safety and honorable, dignified living and high status for minorities.”
Referring to “deceptive policy and politics of BJP”, he said “they follow the ideology propounded by RSS and their main aim is to secure their interests and seat of power in the state.”
Naming BJP leaders including Praveen Togadia, Subraminum Swami, Arora and Bal Thackeray and their “hate speeches”, Geelani said “they are on record and serve an evidence   for what they speak and nourish against Islam and Muslims.”
He said the people who were in a position to “give tough fight to BJP and its allies were put behind the bars and in a pre-planned way BJP is being provided opportunity to propagate their ideology and fulfill their plans as part of their cultural aggression.”
Geelani said a part of media do not cooperate and rather show indifference for their interests and material gains they are being provided. But, he said, “these things never last long.”
Geelani called for complete shutdown on 25th November against “election drama” in districts of Ganderbal and Bandipora and urged people to register their protest against “manipulated elections, highhandedness of authorities and fresh arrest spree.”
Geelani said elections are “an operation conducted under the shadow of gun and youth and political activists are being harassed and detained by police and other agencies.”
Blaming police and armed forces for “arbitrary measures against civilians”, Geelani said with fresh arrest spree, nocturnal raids and detaining resistance leaders “the forces and their agencies have unleashed terror and people are being harassed and subjected to torture.”
“The State authorities have waged a war against civilians and youths and for the past 67 years unabated arrests, killings, torture and torching properties has become a routine,” he said.
Meanwhile, Geelani said there will be no strike on Friday, November 21.
