59 more schools put on notice for charging September-October fee

The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has put on notice 59 more private schools for charging tuition fee and bus charges forĀ  September and October, when floods ravaged Kashmir and educational institutions were closed.
The school representatives were asked to be present before the court on the next date of hearing on November 18 to explain the reasons for charging the fee for September and October after Advocate G A Lone furnished more names of schools to the Registry that have charged fee and bus fare from the students for September and October.

Earlier, in the Public Interest Litigation on flood-hit schools, the court had directed private educational institutes to adjust the fee of September and October, if taken from the students, in coming months of the academic session.
The direction came following a statement by counsels representing Mallinson Girls School, Tyndale Biscoe, Presentation Convent, Burn Hall and New Era Public School that they have not charged the fee to the students for the months of September and October. Delhi Public School Srinagar was, however, directed not to charge any fee to the students for months of September and October.
