Protests in J&K’s Kupwara after minor crushed to death by Army vehicle
A protest broke out in the Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir after a 12-year-old girl was crushed to death by an Army vehicle on Friday evening.
Farhat Manzoor died on the spot as she was hit by the vehicle in an Army convoy at Kralgund in Kupwara in the evening, police said.
The hundreds of local residents of the town came out on streets and staged a protest after the incident.
Situation is said to be tense and the local police is trying to restore normalcy.
Meanwhile, an Army official said no Army vehicle was involved in the accident.
“Army does not do hit and run. There was no army vehicle in sight,” Col GS (information warfare) Brijesh Pandey said.
