Kashmir will be testing lab for ‘gharwapsi’ if JK handed over to fascists: Geelani

‘If Kashmiris want to protect their Muslim identity, they should be prepared for decisive resistance’

The Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani Tuesday termed as “alarming” the prevailing political situation in Jammu and Kashmir and warned that “if state is handed over to people having fascist ideologies, then a do or die situation will be created for Kashmiris.”

“If Kashmiris want to protect their Muslim identity, culture and freedom movement, they should be mentally prepared for a decisive resistance to defy communal forces,” Geelani said, addressing the conglomerate’s Executive Council meeting (Majlis-e-Shoora) at party headquarters at Hyderpora here.
“The present situation is alarming. I want to caution people that the communal forces of India are planning a major and destructive offensive
against the freedom struggle and the Muslim identity of Kashmiri nation. For this, the enemies from the tribe of Mir Jaffar and Mir Sadiq are in queue to cooperate with them in their mission,” he said, in apparent reference to possible tie-ups on government formation with BJP as an alliance partner to a regional party.
“We must keep a close watch on the prevailing situation. If the state is handed over to the people having fascist ideologies, it will be a do-or-die situation for our nation. Our everything—lives, property, faith and culture—will be in danger.  With the help of armed forces, Kashmir will be made a testing lab for projects like ‘Home Coming’ and ‘Save daughter and bring daughter-in-law’,” he said, referring to BJP’s ‘gharwapsi’ campaign.
“If Kashmiri nation wants to protect its Muslim identity, culture and freedom movement, they should remain mentally prepared for the decisive resistance,” he said.
He said the pro-India parties “have sold their faith, conscience and even national pride to India and none of them is capable of raising the voice against the dangerous designs of the communal forces.”
“These people are power hungry and their first and last goal is political benefits. Some of them have cooperated with these communal forces in the past and some are today in line to do so,” he said.
“At this crucial juncture if any type of carelessness or lenience is shown, it will have serious consequences and we will lose our existence forever,” he said.
He accused pro-India politicians of J&K of “being responsible for all miseries and difficulties of Kashmiris.”
“They have never bothered about welfare of the nation. Palestine is also struggling against the Israeli occupation for the last 70 years. But they don’t have people like Mufti Sayeed, Omar Abdullah, KukaParray and Muma Kana, nor they run after the chair. Those people have followed a single path and that is why the whole world is supporting the right to self determination of the people of Palestine,” he said.
