Govt with PDP soon, AFSPA to stay, says BJP

Govt with PDP soon, AFSPA to stay, says BJPBJP legislature party leader Nirmal Singh Sunday said that the BJP and PDP would soon resume their alliance to form the government in Jammu and Kashmir, and its prime objective would be good governance.

“Our agenda was to give good governance, and almost the same agenda will be pursued by the next government, for which Mehbooba Mufti is the favoured CM candidate,” said Singh, who was deputy chief minister in the government led by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.

Speaking to the media at the district BJP headquarters here, Singh said, “There were some questions in the minds of PDP leaders on how the agenda of the alliance would be executed. According to my knowledge, such questions have been addressed and a positive result will come out soon.”

On issues like AFSPA and Article 370, he said, “We admit there are some issues on which the BJP and PDP have completely opposite perceptions. But such issues are not at the centre of the alliance for now. Our prime objective is to give good governance to people. AFPSA is a technical issue. Only experts can decide on it. It will stay for now.”
