Curfew to continue in Anantnag, Kulgam, Pulwama; Clashes erupt in parts of SrinagarAuthorities on Thursday continued curfew only in three south Kashmir districts of Anantnag, Kulgam and Pulwama.

“Curfew will continue today (Thursday) in Anantnag, Kulgam and Pulwama districts. Restrictions have been imposed in Shopian, Kupwara and Sopore towns,” a senior police official said.

“Prohibitory orders under section 144 continue to remain in force in Srinagar city,” he added.

All educational institutions including schools, colleges and universities have remained closed in Kashmir since July 8.

All public transport including the train services between Baramulla and Jammu’s Banihal town remained paralyzed for the 19th day on Thursday.

Clashes between government forces and protesters erupted in many parts of Srinagar on Thursday.

Scores of protesters assembled in SarafKadal, area and started marching raising anti-India slogans however, the men in uniform swung into action and tried to disperse the protesters by firing tear smoke shells.

Heavy clashes were going on in the area till the reports last came in.

Local sources told Kashmir Post that as many as 20 youth were arrested from Chattabal area prompting locals to come on streets resulting in clashes.

Heavy stone pelting on government forces was also going on in Padshahi Bagh, Safakadal, Cement bridge, Qamarwari, Noorbagh and Nowhatta areas as well.

Earlier, authorities lifted curfew from Srinagar however it remained in force in south Kashmir districts of Anantnag and Kulgam.
