Communication Gag Continued across Valley; Army man’s house set ablaze in Anantnag

State Government has yet to restore the BSNL broadband internet service which was snapped on August 13, effectively cutting Kashmir off from the world.
This was the only service left untouched in the so far 38 days of the unrest. Sources in BSNL say they have not received orders to resume the service. “We got the order to shut it down. Waiting for the order to resume it,” said an official.
This has created an unprecedented communication blockade in Valley. Government has already shutdown prepaid and post-paid phones and the internet service.  Among all the internet services, broadband has the least penetration in Valley. According to a BSNL official there are just 17000 connections.
And all these are generally subscribed by people who depend on the service for their livelihood.

Protesters set ablaze the house of a local army man who had allegedly fired upon protesters at Larkipora here in south Kashmir on Tuesday, reports said. As reported earlier a youth Amir Ganie of Naidpora was killed in forces firing at Larkipora this morning.
Reports said that after Amir was laid to rest protesters marched towards the house of the local army man, who according them had opened fire, and set his house ablaze.
