Sit-in staged in Batmaloo, Nawa Kadal after authorities foil ‘UN march’; CRPF Men on rampage in MaharajGunj

Scores of people Wednesday morning held a sit-in at Batamaloo here after they were not allowed to proceed towards the UN office at Sonwar.The protest march was stopped near Astania Aliya where people staged a sit-in.
The joint leadership had asked people to stage sit-ins on roads if they were prevented by the authorities from marching towards the United Nations Office at Sonawar.
The protesters were holding banners and placards, reading: “Freedom only solution, nothing less than Azadi acceptable.” Meanwhile, locals have started to cook meals for the people holding the sit-in.

Scores of people held a sit-in in Nawa Kadal area of Srinagar on Wednesday on call of united pro-freedom leadership. The leadership had asked people to stage sit-ins on roads if they were prevented by the authorities from marching towards the United Nations Office at Sonawar.
Scores of people came out of their homes and held the sit-in near Ansari Chowk Khanqah-e-Sookhta, under the leadership of Hurriyat (M) leader Masroor Ansari.
They were shouting pro-freedom and anti-India slogans, said an eyewitness.

People in Mahrajgunj area of old city Srinagar on Wednesday accused paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) men of causing massive damage to their vehicles parked on roads. The locals who had parked their vehicles roads in Mahrajgunj and Wazapora areas alleged that scores of CRPF personnel went on “rampage” on Wednesday morning and damaged several vehicles.
They said the incident took place even as there was no stone pelting or protests going on in the area.
“It was a hell-like situation. We informed nearby police post at the very moment but no one came forward to save us from these ‘unbridled’ gunmen,” said a protester Khurshid Ahmad Dalal whose new branded vehicle had been badly damaged.
