Geelani rejects PDP’s plea, asks Mehbooba to join him

The separatist group headed by Syed Ali Shah Geelani today rejected the plea of the PDP, which had requested the separatist leader to give Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti a chance. The Hurriyat faction led by Geelani asked the Chief Minister to join the separatist camp instead.
“It demands from her at least to be on the side of her people and join their struggle. But, for petty power and to please her masters, she has been competing in killing and maiming her own people,” the Geelani-led group said.
The ruling party appealed to Geelani on Saturday to think of Mehbooba as “his daughter who also happens to be the first Kashmiri Muslim woman to lead our state”.
“I appeal to Geelani to give her a chance. She understands the pain and pulse of the people as she has risen from the grassroots,” PDP spokesman Mehboob Beg said on Saturday. The separatist group responded with a detailed statement, accusing Mehbooba of turning “this heavenly land into hell”.
“We have three-pronged relations with Mehbooba — human, national and religious — but she has utterly failed to uphold any of these,” the separatist group said in the statement while responding to the PDP plea.
