Forces raid Samboora, Fire Shells, Pellets injuring scores of civilians

10 Injured in clashes; 2 referred to Srinagar

In a surprise raid Samboora populace, forces injured scores of civilians on Tuesday. Local sources said that Army, CRPF and police raided the area in Pulwama district around 5:10PM today.
“People were in their fields busy with harvesting,” an eye witness said, “only elderly and children were home when forces came in almost 30 vehicles.”
The eye witness said that forces resorted to tear gas shelling and fired pellets as well as bullets.
“We were caught unawares,” a local said, “although, we saw vehicles entering the village but we never knew they will target us directly.”While many civilians were injured being in their rice fields, forces started damaging their houses and other private property.
“Around 100 houses were damaged; TV sets, refrigerators, kitchen ware and other things were completely damaged,” a local said. “The action of forces was completely unprovoked.”
A local who managed to take ten injured civilians to Pampore hospital said, “one of the injured has been hit by bullet in his leg while four others injured in pellet firing have been shifted to Srinagar for advanced treatment.”
