The residents of Rangreth area on the outskirts of Srinagar on Tuesday said that the government forces barged into their homes and ransacked their belongings.
A local told Kashmir Post that the forces entered their homes early Tuesday and thrashed the inmates without any provocation.
A bank employee said that the forces have sealed the area and that no one is allowed to move in or out.
“Our staff, including women, is also not allowed to move out of the building. We wanted to go home,” he said. Reports said that a minor incident of stone-pelting took place in the area yesterday.

Meanwhile, at least fifteen youth were injured during the night clashes in Seer Hamdan township of Anantnag. The clashes, locals said, erupted after the government forces including police and CRPF men reached the village around midnight to carry out raids.
As soon as the forces’ vehicles , reached near JK bank , youths who had already blocked the main road and the lanes leading to different localities and were guarding the village threw stones to prevent them from moving ahead. Forces, resorted to intense teargas shelling and fired pellet ammunition on the stone throwing youth to disperse the stone throwing youth. The clashes which continued till morning at least 15 people were injured. They were taken to nearby hospital for treatment.
