Today Resistance Camp call for bandh over West Pakistan Refugees Issue

As the fortnight-long relaxed protest calendar ended today, the separatist leaders called for a bandh and statewide protests and demonstrations tomorrow against “issuance of domicile certificates” to the West Pakistan refugees.
It was for the second consecutive week that normal life activities continued for five days followed by two days of shutdown. The continued shutdowns have been a practice in the past about six months following the killing of militant commander Burhan Wani in an encounter with security forces in south Kashmir on July 8.
In a joint statement, the separatist leaders, Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik, here today “appealed for statewide protests and demonstrations on Friday (tomorrow) against issuing of domicile certificates to the West Pakistan refugees, court verdict challenging the disputed nature of Jammu and Kashmir.” The leaders, while announcing the fortnight-long calendar earlier this month, had called for shutdown on Fridays and Saturdays. The post-Friday protests last week were also held against the issue of WPRs domicile certificate. The separatists are yet to announce the “long-term plan” of protest programmes that was expected to be issued by the end of the current schedule.
