Two Kashmiri youth hailing from Anantnag and Handwara areas have been arrested for allegedly showing disrespect to the Indian National anthem in Jammu.
Sources said the duo did not stand up while the anthem was being played in a cinema hall in Jammu yesterday.
They have been identified as Syed Mudasir Ahmad Shah of Neelpora Magam Handwara Kupwara and Javid Ahmad Teli of Hiller Kukernagh in district Anantnag. Both are lodged in police station Narwal Jammu
“The duo was immediately taken into custody and booked under provisions of the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971.
Sources said that a case FIR No 31/2017 has been registered in this regard in police station Narwal,” they said.
The Supreme Court on November 30 last year directed cinema halls across India to play the national anthem before the screening of every movie and stated that all persons present must stand up in respect.
