Use Kashmiri language for promoting resistance movement: Geelani

On the International Mother Tongue day observed yesterday, the Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani today said language had always played vital and central role in glorifying the civilized societies.
“Languages are the most powerful instruments of preserving and developing our rich heritage,” Geelani, in a statement today, said, appealing to the authors, scholars, poets and writers to contribute for revival of religious identification, moral values, rich social tradition and use Kashmiri language for glorifying and promotion of resistance movement.

“Different languages serve as great signs and symbols from Almighty Allah and It is a social movement built on the spirit to defend the rights to write in one’s mother language,” he said.
Referring to Kashmiri language, Geelani said, “Importance of Arabic, Urdu, and Persian can’t be ignored and any kind of ignorance or negligence towards these languages can prove disastrous for our specific Muslim identity. Kashmiri language was deliberately ignored and thus it is lagging far behind.”
“State has remained under foreign control since long and as such all political, social, economical development and development of Kashmiri language remained ignored for long periods,” he said.

Geelani expressed his deep grief over the death of Waseem Mushtaq, demanding stringent action against those involved in “showering pellets and bullets on innocent youth.”
In his condolence message to the bereaved family, Geelani said, “Whole nation stands with you.
Meanwhile, Geelani has paid rich tributes to Captain Nadeem, saying “His contribution is exemplary and a superb chapter in history of Kashmir. We are proud of these brave hearts.”
