Probe ordered into lease of State land by Dharmath Trust

The PDP-BJP coalition government has ordered an inquiry into an alleged fraud by Dharmath Trust by leasing out hundreds of kanals of State land to a private company in Jammu district and has also referred the case to Crime Branch to register FIR and probe the fraud.
As per a Government order No. 44 Rev (S) of 2017 dated 17 Feb 2017, Regional Director Survey and Land Records Jammu Inderjeet has been appointed Inquiry Officer to investigate the issue and identify the officials of the Revenue Department and management of the Dharmath Trust, who have leased the land measuring 589 kanals to M/S RNG and Associates.
“The State land is located in Janakha village in Tehsil Dansal in Jammu has been fraudulently been leased out by Dharmath Trust to M/S RNG and Associates. The land comprises of Khasra Nos. 794/18, 18, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27 and 29 min situated in the village,” reads the order.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Jammu had recommend that the matter be probed by an investigating agency or a High level Commission.
The revenue department as per the order has asked the inquiry officer to submit the report within a month and suggest corrective action to restore the state land to its original revenue position.
“The inquiry officer shall also fix responsibility of the delinquent officials of the revenue department and management of the Dharmath Trust and recommend action against them,” reads the order.
Sources said the matter had come into the notice of then Revenue minister, Syed Basharat Bukhari, who had asked his department to order investigation into the fraud.
