8 Students injured in Shopian, 4 in Pulwama

At least eight students sustained injuries after government forces allegedly barged into the Higher Secondary School Shopian, premises and fired pellets on protesting students.
As per sources, a heavy contingent of police and other forces chased the protesting students during clashes into the government higher secondary school.He said, “Forces entered into the institution and fired pellets on students injuring many.”
Meanwhile locals also confirmed that forces even beat one of the teachers in the school. However, police sources strongly denied the allegations that they beat any teacher or entered the school premises.
Meanwhile, many students also sustained injuries in Pulwama as well during clashes with government forces.
As per sources in district hospital Pulwama, they received four injured students, with fractures and one student was fired with pellets in his foot.

Clashes erupt in Ganderbal after police foil students’ march
Clashes erupted in Ganderbal on Wednesday after police foiled a march of students of Government Degree College.
Reports said that the students boycotted their classes and staged protest inside the college premises.
Later, the students tried to march into the streets.
However, police foiled their march by bursting teargas shells, triggering clashes.

Clashes erupted in Pulwama town in south Kashmir after police used tear gas to stop the students from marching into the streets.
Witnesses said that scores of students of the Degree College staged protests inside the campus.
They were shouting pro-freedom slogans.
As they marched outside the college, police used tear gas to chase them inside.
The students retaliated by pelting stones, triggering chaos in the town.

Student protests trigger shutdown in Bandipora town
Scores of students of Nadim Memorial Higher Secondary school (NMHSS) in Kaloosa locality of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Wednesday staged protests, triggering shutdown in the main town.
Witnesses said that students took out a protest march from NMHSS towards the main market where they pelted stones on shops.
The protesting students, who were raising pro-freedom and anti-government slogans, marched through the main market and assembled at Gulshan chowk.
Student protests against a police crackdown on Degree College Pulwama on April 15 are refusing to die down despite the call from the Kashmir University Students’ Union (KUSU) asking students to resume their classes.

Student protests in Shopian, Bijbehara
Clashes between students and forces erupted in Shopian town and Bijbehara on Wednesday morning.
Local sources told Kashmir Post that scores of students of government Boy’s Higher Secondary School Shopian and Bijbehara Degree College Wednesday lodged a strong protest demonstration against the police highhandedness against the students since last two weeks in the Valley.
However, they said a large contingent of police at both the places tried to stop the students who were raising pro-freedom and anti-India slogans ensuing massive clashes between students and forces.
Kashmir is witnessing a wave of student protests ever since at least 60 students were injured in force’s action at Pulwama Degree College on April 15.
