Jammu Groom hires Chopper to bring his bride from RS Pura

A groom from Jammu today hired a helicopter from a Delhi-based aviation company to bring his bride from a border village in the RS Pura area of Jammu district.
“It was my family’s dream to see my elder brother bringing his bride in a helicopter, but that could not happen as the administration had declined our request to hire a chopper on security grounds. Since then, they were waiting for my marriage. Finally, this day has come,” said groom Anil Kumar, who runs a small PCO in the Gangyal area.
For the smooth landing of the helicopter, the family constructed a temporary helipad near their house where hundreds of people from the area, including politicians, had reached to witness the moment. The bride belongs to Kullian village near Miran Sahib in the RS Pura area which shares international border with Pakistan.
“It is a touching moment for us as we have realised our dream. I wanted to see my son boarding a helicopter to bring his bride and this has come true. The administration, security personnel and the local politicians have helped us in realising our dream,” said Madan Lal, the groom’s father. He said the marriage of his younger son was fixed about six months ago and he was trying to get permission for hiring a chopper for the baarat for the last two months.
“I was saving money for this moment for the last five years. I am happy that my son will bring his bride in a helicopter tomorrow morning, which is happening for the first time in the state,” he said.
Bridegroom’s sister-in-law Jyoti Devi said: “I could not see this moment at the time of my marriage, but it is a great day for all of us. We can’t express our happiness in words. Now, I wish to see this moment again in my life at the time of my son’s marriage. I will also try to bring my daughter-in-law in a helicopter”.
Baldev Singh Biloria, district president, BJP, reached the helipad and shared the family’s happiness. “We congratulate the family for realising their dream,” he said.
The family had also invited Assembly Speaker Kavinder Gupta, who is also the local MLA, to accompany the bridegroom in the helicopter, but he could not make it due to preoccupation.
