Admin issues advisory on Snowfall, Police establishes helplines

The divisional administration Kashmir Thursday issued weather advisory according to which moderate to heavy snow is expected at most places in the State from December 11- 13, 2017.
“A western disturbance is approaching J&K and adjoining areas. This system is likely to affect J&K from December 9 onwards and produce moderate to heavy snowfall on December 11, 12 and 13,” an official spokesman said.
The advisory asked the Deputy Commissioners of Kashmir division to take all the precautionary measures in their respective districts.
“It is enjoined upon all Deputy Commissioners, concerned head of departments and district superintendents of police to activate their manpower and machinery and to be in a state of preparedness, so as to minimize disruption of essential services, road connectivity at the earliest, restoring electric supply, water supply, healthcare services etc,” reads the advisory.
In view of the weather and avalanche warnings, police has established helpline numbers at every district as well as in Police Control Room Kashmir.
A police spokesman said people of the valley are requested to contact their respective concerned Police Helpline’s in case on any emergency and exigency.
Inspector General of Police Munir Ahmad Khan has directed all the concerned district SSsP to remain vigilant and keep their men readiness for the help of general public.
He said these helplines have been established in every district and would remain functional 24×7.
