Youth clash with forces near gunfight site in Shopian, Woman killed scores injured

Clashes erupted near the site of gunfight in Shopian district of south Kashmir on Tuesday where an operation is underway since last evening.
Two militants were killed in the nocturnal gunfight while the search operation is on to look for third militant believed to be hiding in the debris of the house in Batmuran village.

The house in which the militants were hiding was razed to ground after forces blasted it with IEDs.
Reports and eye witnesses said that youth hurled rocks at the forces to disrupt the operation. However forces lobbed teargas shells to disperse the protesters, triggering clashes.
A top police official said that the combing operation is underway at the gunfight site to look for the third body. Bodies of two militants have so far been recovered from the site.

The gunfight had started in Batmuran village of Shopian district on Monday evening when the troops of Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police surrounded a house on a tip off.
Police sources had said that about two to three militants were hiding in that house.

Reports said that Beauty Jan (24), wife of Manzoor Ahmad, was hit by a bullet in her abdomen during clashes. She was rushed to a hospital but died on the way.
