Govt has failed to protect border dwellers: Ajay Sadhotra

National Conference (NC) leader Ajay Sadhotra has said the BJP governments at the Centre and the state have failed to protect the lives and property of the people living along the International Border and the Line of Control.
During his visit to border villages from Chakrali-Gajansoo to Lalyal Camp and Kanachak in the Marh block, the NC leader condemned the frequent ceasefire violations by Pakistan.
“I have come to enquire about your condition,” he told border residents and expressed shock and grief over the killing of people and expressed sympathies with their families.
The NC leader took stock of the situation and expressed dismay over the condition of the border people. “They are in a state of shock and have a sense of insecurity and uncertainty. The government has left them to the mercy of God. Border people are lacking basic facilities and the BJP government has turned a blind eye to their problems,” he said.
“The BJP government had promised to construct bunkers so that residents could take shelter during shelling and save their lives but no bunkers have been constructed. The tall claims of the Centre and the state government to construct bunkers have fallen flat. Both governments have been insensitive towards the issue,” he said further.
The NC leader said camps should be set up at safer places and transport be provided to border residents to shift to camps.
