Attempts being made to divide Jammu on communal lines: Devinder Singh Rana

Lashing out at the ruling BJP for its “silence” on the horrific murder of eight-year-old Asifa Bano, senior National Conference leader Devinder Singh Rana on Thursday said there are attempts to divide the people of Jammu on religious lines.
During the question hour in the Assembly, the NC legislator said attempts are being made to break the secular character and traditions of Dogras of Jammu.
“Efforts are being made to communalise the situation in Jammu. A divide is being created in the name of religion and caste here. There are attempts to pit Muslims, Hindus and Sikhs against each other,” he said.
He said the people of Jammu have always upheld secular traditions and defeated divisive forces and communal politics.
Rana slammed the BJP for remaining silent on the murder of Asifa Bano. “Children are children. Why they did not utter a word over the tragedy?” Rana asked.
Asifa, a girl from Bakerwal community, was abducted on January 10 at Rasana village of Kathua. Seven days later her body was found on the outskirts of her native village
