PDP manipulated khadi board recruitments: National Conference

The selection of the Chief Minister’s cousin in a state-level exam has turned into a major political controversy as the National Conference (NC), the lead opposition party in the legislative Assembly, today accused the ruling PDP of manipulating the recruitment process.
The party leaders said “someone has to be held accountable” for the illegal selections for the various posts of the Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB), Waqf Board, Sports Council and Integrated Child Development Services. “In recent days, some such issues have come to the fore, which are directly linked to the Chief Minister and her immediate family or their close aides… the recruitment process has been openly manipulated and diluted,” Junaid Mattu, NC spokesman, told reporters here. Mattu said the party was raising specific questions and seeking answers from the CM as he along with Tanvir Sadiq, political secretary of NC working president Omar Abdullah, raised alarm over the KVIB selections and also alleged that hundreds of “political and fictitious” appointments have been made in J&K Bank.
“First the probe was initiated and then the CM’s relative withdrew (his candidature), and then the probe was withdrawn. However, pressure was mounted and we are being told that the probe now stands. If someone commits robbery and then he returns the money, should he be exonerated,” Sadiq said. “Someone has to be held accountable,” he added.
