Govt to announce shifting of exam session to March before Darbar Move

The government is likely to make official announcement for implementation of March exam session in schools of the Valley before the shifting of offices from Jammu to summer capital Srinagar. The minister for education Syed Muhammad AltafBukhari said the official announcement for shifting of exams will be made before shifting of Darbar.
“Order will be issued before Darbar moves from Jammu,” said Bukhari.

The government is deliberating on shifting exam session from November to March for students from lower to higher secondary level. However the delay in official announcement is worrying the students and teachers.
Officials said the government was seeking feedback from various quarters about shifting the exams session and the formal announcement was to be made by cabinet. “But now the government has decided that the announcement will be made at department level so that students will make their plans accordingly for their annual exams,” said a top official of the school education department.
He said the department has constituted an expert committee to suggest measures about the modus-operandi. “The committee is supposed to submit its report to the government on Monday (April 16) following which the government will make official announcement for shifting exams session to March,” said the official.

The private school body has already extended its support to the government on the decision to shift exam session from November to March. The Private School Association Kashmir (PSAK) on Saturday stated that shifting of exam session to March will increase the number of working days in schools and attendance of students “who usually sit at homes from August month.”
Shifting of exams session to March is considered to bear positive results for students appearing in national level competitive exams like JEE Mains and other exams and bring the academic calendar of schools of Kashmir in line with Jammu and also at par with the rest of the states.
