#COVID19: Surge in corona-virus cases across Kashmir Valley continues

With 27 new samples testing positive, Kashmir witnessed a spike of COVID19 cases today taking the total in J&K to 407.

As many as 27 patients tested positive for coronavirus in Kashmir in a single day on Wednesday, bringing the total cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 407, officials said.
Of the 489 samples tested at Viral Diagnostic and Research Lab (VDRL) of SKIMS, Srinagar, 25 samples tested positive.

Medical Superintendent SKIMS, Dr Farooq Jan said 14 patients are from Shopian, six from Bandipora, four from Kupwara, and one from Wagub Baramulla.
Chest Disease Hospital lab of Srinagar tested 121 samples of which two tests returned positive .
Nodal Officer for COVID-19 for GMC Srinagar, Dr Salim Khan said two persons are from Bandipora and Anantnag.

He also said 46 samples were under process at the CD Hospital lab while 160 fresh samples were received by the lab on Wednesday.
No new case was reported from Jammu division.

According to the government, till date 64,089 travellers and persons in contact with suspect cases have been put under observation in J&K.
“A total of 5806 people are in home quarantine, 310 in hospital isolation, 252 in hospital quarantine, and 15376 in home surveillance,” the government said.
It said 42,340 people had completed their surveillance period.

Till date, the government said 9632 samples tested negative since the coronavirus outbreak in J&K while 407 samples are positive.

Of the total positive cases, 310 are active including 272 in Kashmir and 38 in Jammu province.
In Kashmir, Bandipora has now 97 cases, Srinagar 79, Baramulla 47, Kupwara 37, Shopian 46, Budgam 13, Pulwama three, Ganderbal 14, Kulgam six and Anantnag nine.
Similarly, in Jammu division, Jammu has 26 cases, Udhampur 20, Samba four, Rajouri four, Kathua and Kishtwar one each.

As per the government, on Wednesday, 11 more persons were discharged from hospitals in Kashmir
“Six were discharged from District Hospital Pulwama, three from SKIMS Soura, and two from Chest Disease Hospital Srinagar,” an official said.

Till date, 92 persons have recovered from COVID-19 in J&K, including 18 from Bandipora, 27 from Srinagar, and four from Baramulla
J&K has so far witnessed five casualties due to COVID-19 of which four are from Kashmir and one from Jammu province.
