Tragic Road Accident Claims Entire Cops Family in South Kashmir

Srinagar: Eight people, including a policeman and five children, died in a road accident on the Sinthan-Kokernag route in South Kashmir.

Sub District Magistrate (SDM) Kokernag, Suheel Ahmad Lone, told local news agency KNO that a policeman, five children, and two women died in an accident near Arashan Daksum.

He said the vehicle they were travelling in was coming from Madwa Kishtwar, adding that a postmortem is being conducted at SDH Kokernag.

The incident involved a Maruti Swift car bearing number JK03H-9017 travelling from Kishtwar via Sinthan Top towards Marwah. The victims of this tragic incident were identified as:

Imtiyaz Rather (45), son of Ghulam Rasool Rather, Marwah Kishtwar.
Afroza Begum (40), wife of Imtiyaz Ahmad Rather, Marwah Kishtwar.
Reshma (40), wife of Majid Ahmad.
Areeba Imtiyaz (12), daughter of Imtiyaz Ahmad.
Aniya Jan (10), daughter of Imtiyaz Ahmad.
Abaan Imtiyaz (6), son of Imtiyaz.
Musaib Majid (16), son of Majid Ahmad.
Mushail Majid (8), son of Majid Ahmad.

Former Minister and Vice President of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP), Ghulam Mohammad Saroori, expressed his heartfelt condolences and emphasized the urgent need to address the increasing number of road accidents in Jammu and Kashmir.
