J&K’s death toll due to novel coronavirus surpass 1500 mark

Twelve more COVID-19 patients have died in the past 24 hours, taking the number of casualties in J&K to 1502, while Tuesday witnessed 478 fresh cases, pushing the total number of cases to 96,188, officials said.

As per the government, the fresh casualties include eight from Kashmir division and two from Jammu division.

With the fresh casualties, the death toll due to novel coronavirus has soared to 1502 in Jammu and Kashmir, which include 999 from Kashmir and 503 from Jammu.

So far, Srinagar has reported 366 deaths, Baramulla 146, Budgam 94, Pulwama 83, Kupwara 73, Anantnag 74, Kulgam 48, Bandipora 46, Shopian 35, and Ganderbal 34.

In Jammu division, Jammu district has reported 260 deaths, Rajouri 48, Doda 47, Kathua 31, Samba 25, Udhampur 32, Poonch 22, Ramban 15, Kishtwar 15 and Reasi eight.

On Tuesday, J&K reported 478 fresh coronavirus cases, which include 283 from Kashmir and 195 from Jammu division, pushing the total infection tally to 96,188.

The government said of the total 23,66,741 test results available, 22,70,553 returned negative and 96,188 positive which include 5,968 active positive cases while 88,718 have recovered and been discharged including 578 persons discharged during the past 24 hours.

It said, so far, 66,14,59 persons had been put under observation including 16,057 in home quarantine and 5,968 in isolation while 44,638 people are under home surveillance and 59,32,94 persons have completed their surveillance period.

In Kashmir, Srinagar has a total of 19,703 cases, Budgam 6070, Baramulla 6228, Pulwama 4714, Anantnag 4266, Bandipora 4075, Kupwara 4518, Ganderbal 3607, Kulgam 2495 and Shopian 2223.

In Jammu division, Jammu district has a total of 17,890 cases, Rajouri 3214, Udhampur 2744, Kathua 2468, Doda 2670, Samba 2187, Poonch 2267, Ramban 1611, Kishtwar 1949, Ramban 1611 and Readi 1289.

As COVID-19 deaths and fresh cases witnessed a sudden spike on Tuesday the death toll has surpassed 1500 mark and the toll continues to rise.
