5 Ways To Boost Your Intelligence

5 Ways To Boost Your Intelligence

We show you how to do so

Not feeling sharp and intelligent enough in comparison to your friends and colleagues? Do you wish to become a Mr/Miss-know-it-all who always manages to impress people with your wisdom? It’s natural to feel like that. But then, you begin to wonder when you can dedicate time to boost your grey cells. Fear not, because here are five ways to give that much-needed stimulation to optimise your brain power:

1. Exercise
Who said exercising is only for losing weight or staying fit? It can do a lot more for your intelligence than you know. Exercising boosts metabolism, improves your mood and concentration, and blood circulation to the brain. All this helps to improve your brain power.

2. Quit being glued to the idiot box
Little do we realise that we spend a lot of time slouching in front of the television, continuously flipping channels in search of something interesting. Sometimes, we don’t even mind watching mindless, idiotic shows that hardly have any learning value. Do watch TV, but don’t sit like a zombie in front of it. Instead, read a book, listen to some soothing music, cook something interesting or talk to a friend/family member.

3. Become a bookworm
Read newspapers, magazines, periodicals, fiction, non-fiction. Basically, anything you can lay your hands on provided, they pose some challenge to you. Doing so will not only broaden your horizons but also increase your reading speed and ability to grasp faster. However, these benefits won’t kick in, if you read something that’s easy for you.

4. Practice puzzles
Whether it’s playing a game of chess, sudoku or crosswords, solving puzzles helps stimulate your brian and think out of the box.

5. Sleep well
How can you concentrate on anything without a good night’s sleep? Eight hours of sleep is necessary for the proper rejuvenation of the body and the mind. Rising early increases productivity by keeping you mentally active throughout the day. If you sleep more, just to compensate for staying up late, you’ll end up feeling lethargic. So, the best thing to do is: Early to bed, early to rise.
