Protests erupt in Jammu over JNU sedition episode

Protests erupt in Jammu over JNU sedition episodeVarious non-political and student organisations today staged demonstrations against the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) incident where some students allegedly raised “anti-India” slogans and demanded registration of sedition case against the culprits.
In Jammu University (JU), the National Panthers Student Union (NPSU) held a protest on the campus and forced the boycott of classes in many departments. The protesters demanded slapping of sedition charges against the culprits.
Activists of the NPSU who assembled in front of the administrative block raised “pro-India” slogans and barged into various classrooms urging the students to boycott their classes thereafter. Later, they took out a protest rally and marched towards the main gate of the campus.
Thakur Virender Singh, state president of the NPSU, who led the protesters, alleged that “certain mischievous elements and decisive forces have unleashed anti-India propaganda” and demanded the booking of culprits for sedition.
“Highly provocative and inflammatory speeches given by anti-nationals cannot be tolerated by any nationalist. The non-initiation of action against the delinquents has had the effect of emboldening the divisive forces all across the country,” he said.
Similarly, activists of the Shiv Sena Hindustan also staged a protest and raised slogans against “anti-national” elements.
“The countrymen will not tolerate people involved in sedition and their acts, particularly in the Kashmir valley. The Union Government should take a strict action against Hurriyat leaders who are inciting the youth of the country for anti-national activities,” Rajesh Kesari, senior vice-president of the organisation said.
Meanwhile, the Shiv Sena (Bala Thackery) also held a protest and criticised the JNU episode. Raising slogans against anti-national elements, the protesters alleged that it was a big failure of intelligence agencies that such seditious activities had taken place on the JNU campus.
“The Central Government must deal strictly with such type of elements who work on the instructions of separatists and demand separation from India. Kashmir and Manipur are integral part of India and no power on the earth can separate even an inch of land from India,” Dimpy Kohli, state president of the organisation, said.
He also demanded that those who were supporting the accused of the JNU episode must be brought to book and investigating agencies must deal strictly with them.
