Pellet in my eyes

Bilkees Bhat

Me: Oh my sight, oh my dear sight

You left me midway in an endless night

Sight: oh my young beholder, how could I

Only You complete me, how could I

Me: Then why is that I can’t see the way I used to be

And why is it so dark, please come to me

Sight: Not my fault, I was unwilling to leave

Until an evil unleashed a savage heave

Me:  How did it happen, I just seem not to know

Was it a bullet or an arrow from the evil’s bow

Sight: It is an unwanted gift revealed after the ballot

If I am not wrong, I guess they call it the pellet

Me:  But what did I do, I just raised my voice against injustice

It’s no crime to enlighten the unrevealed evil abyss

Sight: It is a vulpine world and the facts are painted idiocracy

unfortunately they call it the world’s largest democracy

Me: ahhhh!!! Good were the days when you and me would share the same soul

together we watched nature’s scene and its unconditional cajole

Sight: well yeah the erstwhile belongingness was the time priceless

Fun we had together was so deep and simply bottomless

Me: You used to give life to my sea faring thoughts

and the concrete shape to my vague ideas

Sight: Together we wrote and read so much poetry

In the cool shade of that old chinar tree

Me:  Closer like the breath you were holding me tight

the long naps together and the morning light

Sight: Counting the stars together we would never ever tire

Seeing the shooting star you would think it’s a gun fire

Me: scribbling and painting on the pleasant banks of Dal lake

Playing with all colors we never needed any break

Sight: Alas! You reminded me of colors and today something I reveal

Red I hate most coz’ on the roads it would often spill

Me:  Now a season less world is what is left for the rest of my life

The dark veils hovering all over me, am caught in a hopeless strife

Sight: let’s stay peaceful and hope for the best

Who knows it could be a passing test

Me: How shall I go in peace with this wound in my soul

The days are now dark and nights released on eternal parole

Sight:  Patience! Milton’s Paradise was “Lost” first, but then it was “Regained”

Let’s be hopeful that the guardian of night shall light us again

Me: I wish I had a friend like the Great Doraemon

Who would use his gadget to rid away this dark oblivion

Sight: Enough of fantasies and enough of dream land

More hard times are ahead, let’s comprehend

Me:   Hold my hand Lord, I feel scared and so solitary

I stretch my hand, take me into the lap of your eternity

While stretching his hand in real, the kid shakes with an uneasy lean

Then a loud thud, the kid falling down from bed number seventeen

Where am I? where am I? why is it so dark? please switch on the lights

His mom consoles him, son, it was an ugly nightmare and its beasty bites

Son! Its gona be no lights, but only dark nights, dark nights and only nights
