Preserving Paradise: A Sustainable Approach to Tourism in Kashmir
By: Javid Amin
Kashmir, a paradise on Earth, has long captivated travelers with its breathtaking landscapes, rich culture, and warm hospitality. While the region’s iconic destinations like Srinagar, Gulmarg, and Pahalgam continue to draw throngs of visitors, there’s a growing recognition of the need to promote lesser-known, off-beat tourist spots to ensure sustainable tourism and relieve pressure on traditional attractions.
A Collaborative Approach to Tourism Development
In a significant step towards promoting these hidden gems, the Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir, Atal Dulloo, held a productive meeting with the World Bank team. The objective was to devise comprehensive strategies for the development and promotion of off-beat tourism destinations across the Union Territory.
The meeting was attended by key stakeholders, including the Commissioner Secretary of Tourism, Director Tourism, Director of Handicrafts & Handloom, and the Managing Director of JKTDC.
