‘Show damaged documents, get duplicate in 3 days’
Tightening noose around traffic rules violators, authorities at Regional Transport Office here have started sending challans to the erring persons at their home addresses.
Officials said the development would reduce the traffic violations and help in smooth regulation of traffic here in city.
A senior RTO official informed that around 100 challans were sent to violators and fine recovered from them for various violations.
“Next time anyone is caught committing a traffic violation, he must not even think of fibbing his way through. Authorities may have photographic evidence of committing of the violation as digital cameras catch violations of traffic norms,” said the official.
Confirming the development, Regional Transport Officer, Mehmood Shah said in a bid to reduce the number of traffic rule violations, the effort would continue.
“We want safety of people, both, drivers and pedestrians. Sending challan at home address was much needed as some violators think their violations go unnoticed in absence of traffic cops. The development would influence their mind to follow traffic rules,” he added.
Speaking about the issuance of duplicate documents to the flood affected, he said 100 registration certificates, 19 route permits and 163 driving licenses were issued to the applicants.
“I want to inform public that anyone whose documents were damaged can produce them in our office and receive their duplicate within three days after depositing required fee,” he informed.
“Those who have lost their documents in floods have to apply and produce an affidavit and copy of FIR and the applicant will be given duplicate documents within three days,” he added.
Encouraging aspirants of getting driving license, he said those who have not attained the age of majority (18 years) but are 16 years old can apply for the driving license for scooty.
