Stitching Alliance: BJP envoy meets PDP’s Baig

 Sajad also in loop

Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) Vice President and General Secretary, Ram Madhav met Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senior leader and Member of Parliament, Muzaffar Baig Thursday evening and discussed the government formation in the State, sources said.
According to sources, Madhav had a detailed meeting with Baig at a local hotel.
The sources said the two discussed the technicalities involving the government formation in the State.
This was the first meeting between the BJP and PDP leadership after the results for the Legislative Assembly threw up a fractured mandate with PDP getting 28 seats, BJP 25, NC 15, Congress 12 and others seven seats in the 87-seat assembly.
Baig had earlier suggested to the PDP leadership that the party patron Mufti Muhammad Sayeed should meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Muzaffar Hussain Baig had made a suggestion to the party that Mufti Muhammad Sayeed should speak to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” senior PDP leader Altaf Hussain Bukhari told Rising Kashmir.
Before meeting Baig, Madhav met Peoples Conference (PC) Chairman, Sajad Gani Lone at his Sanat Nagar residence, sources said.
The separatist-turned mainstream Lone’s party won two seats from north Kashmir’s Kupwara district and has emerged as a significant player with the poll results throwing up a hung house.
The sources said that Madhav sought Lone’s feedback on the possibility of BJP’s alliance with PDP.
Lone is considered to be close to BJP and he had gone to meet the Prime Minister Modi even before the polls.
Soon after meeting Modi, Sajad had referred to Modi as his elder brother.
Though Sajad had received bouquets for the statement in the mainland Indian, he was also at the receiving end of the brickbats in the State.
However, his association with BJP and Modi now seems to have worked his way.
