Indian troops martyr 156 including 9 teenagers in 2014

Indian troops in their unabated acts of state terrorism martyred 156 innocent Kashmiris including 2 women and 9 teenagers during the year 2014.

According to the data compiled by the Research Section of Kashmir Media Service, 12 of those martyred were killed in custody.

Indian paramilitary troopers and policemen during house raids, crackdowns, firing and teargas shelling subjected 1,729 civilians to torture, while 5,228 persons were arrested. Three Kashmiris went missing in custody after they were kidnapped by Indian police, while 43 women were disgraced or molested by the men in uniform during the year.

In the last month of December, the troops martyred 21 Kashmiris including two in a fake encounter. The number of the Kashmiris killed by Indian troops since 1989 till 31st December 2014 rose to 94,140. Of them 7,026 were killed in fake encounters or in custody.

The APHC leaders at a meeting chaired by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in Srinagar vowed to continue their relentless efforts to protect the Muslim majority identity of the territory. They reiterated that the anti-Kashmiri agenda of the Indian communal forces would be opposed tooth and nail.

Hurriyet leaders, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Aasiya Andrabi, Zamruda Habib and South Kashmir Civil Society in their statements asked the Kashmiris to remain vigilant against the nefarious designs of Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh and Bharatiya Janata Party. The leaders said that these Hindu extremist organizations were conspiring to dilute the Muslim majority character of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front at a meeting chaired by the party Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik in Srinagar paid glowing tributes to the noted Kashmiri intellectual, Professor Abdul Ahad Wani on his martyrdom anniversary. Professor Abdul Ahad Wani was abducted and later killed by unknown persons in Srinagar on 31st December in 1993.
