PMSS woes continue; students expelled from Haryana college stage demos

Dozens of Kashmiri students pursuing their degrees at Delhi Technical Campus (DTC) and Rohtak Institute of Management and Technology, Haryana Wednesday staged a demonstration at Press Enclave here.

They said that they had been ordered to pay up to Rs 1.5 lakh each, in addition to money released under Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS), if they wish to complete their degrees.

“We were expelled from the college as we failed to pay,” they said.

The students who are in their final semesters of BBA and B. Tech accused the college of trying to blackmail them as they were approaching the end of their courses.

“We would be completing our degrees by February 2015 and it is at this point they have raised the issue of more payments,” said the aggrieved students.

They appealed the state authorities to intervene in the matter.
