Hurriyat Conference (G) has decided to register criminal cases against the former chief minister Omar Abdullah and former police officer Ashiq Bukhari in connection with the 2010 killings. The decision to this effect was taken at meeting of selected Hurriyat executive members and some prominent legal experts held here today with the amalgam general secretary Haji Ghulam Nabi Sumji in chair.
“The recent statement of the former police officer Ashiq Bukhari clearly depicts that in 2010 the innocent students were deliberately killed in target firing and all this happened on the directions of the then administrative head Omar Abdullah and that he (Omar) has also rewarded the murderers with promotions and perks. It serves as a kind of confessional statement by the police officers who has accepted that the innocent killings of 2010 were not any accident but a massacre which was carried out through mutual understanding and cooperation of the state administration and police,” said the Hurriyat spokesman Ayaz Akbar in a statement today, adding that “The phone conversation in which Omar Abdullah had told to the police officer that why he had arrested Masarat Alam Bhat alive and why he did not kill him on the spot, abundantly proves how Omar was eagerly baying for the blood of Masarat.”
“It was decided at the meeting that a formal action in this regard will be taken in coming two or three days. The amalgam will try every possible move to bring the murderers of the innocent students to justice,” the spokesman said, adding that “The participants unanimously agreed on this that Omar Abdullah and his whole family have proved anti-Kashmir in every era of history and that they have only deceived and betrayed the people of this land.”
Meanwhile, Hurriyat is again meeting on Saturday to start preparing formal documents for registering the criminal cases against Omar Abdullah and the police officer. “If police played any spoil sport, we will approach the court in this regard and will try every possible move to bring the murderers to justice,” the spokesman said.
