Senior separatist leader and Muslim League chairman Masarat Aalam Bhat Thursday supported the shutdown call given by Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani for April 11 against the proposed establishment of townships for Kashmiri Pandits in Kashmir, urging the people to make it successful.
Masarat Aalam also urged the people to stage protest demonstrations on April 10 after Friday prayers against the government move.
“The government of India has always been trying various methods and weapons to perpetuate its forced and illegal control over Jammu Kashmir. To provide land for establishing separate townships for Kashmiri migrant Pandits in Kashmir is part of New Delhi’s nefarious plan to divide the state on communal lines. To execute its plans, the government of India has been utilizing the services of its agents and surrogates in Kashmir. In the past, New Delhi used its collaborators like Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah, Bakhshi, Sadiq and Mir Qasim to execute its plans and now it has appointed people like Dr Farooq Abdullah, Azad, Omar Abdullah and Mufti Sayeed for the purpose,” the League spokesman, in a statement, quoted Masarat Alam as saying while addressing a condolence meeting at Manzhar, Kupwara, in north Kashmir.
Masarat cautioned the people of Kashmir against, what he said, the nefarious designs of New Delhi and its collaborators, urging them to foil their ‘ulterior plans’.
Meanwhile, Masarat has condoled the demise of Muhammad Shafi Rangrez of Doda and Abdul Ahad Hajam of Manzhar, Kupwara, describing them as prominent and sincere pro-movement personalities who always strived for freedom of their homeland and stayed firm and steadfast while facing innumerable trials and tribulations in the way of struggle. He prayed for the deceased and expressed solidarity with the bereaved families.
