Female teachers to be eligible for inter-district transfer

The government has also proposed that the transfers will be done after two year tenure of the teachers at their previous posting.

Female teachers to be eligible for inter-district transferIn a significant development that would give reprieve to thousands of teachers, the state government in its new transfer policy in education department has agreed for inter-district transfers of female teachers who are married out of their districts.

The government has proposed the move in its transfer policy for education department which will be implemented only after getting proper suggestions and response from different quarters.

Education Minister Naeem Akhtar, while terming the new transfer policy as teacher friendly, said it will be implemented only to bring order in the academic system and restore the dignity of teacher. “This is not a harsh policy at all,” Naeem Akhtar told .

The government has also proposed that the transfers will be done after two year tenure of the teachers at their previous posting.

“After two years the teachers will be circulated within zones so that no teacher is permanently pushed to difficult and far off areas,” Naeem Akhtar said, adding that they can also attend their family. “This is a teacher-friendly policy keeping the interest of the child supreme.”

Under the new policy, government is mulling to order transfers in a specific ‘window’ and do away with the existing mid-term transfers.

“Transfers will be done during a particular period. For winter zone it will be done in winter vacations and for summer zone it will be done during summer vacations,” the education minister said.

He said the move will ease the administrative burden on the Chief Education Officers (CEO) and Director School Education.

“And for the rest of the session these officers can concentrate on academics only. We will ensure that any transfer takes place before the session starts and mid-session transfers will end.”

He said the female teachers seeking inter-district transfers will have to put in certain qualifying service in parent district and they will be automatically sent to the district they have been married.

“Besides this, single lady parents will be given posting closest to their home and any female parent having specially-able child will be provided preferred posting,” Naeem Akhtar said.
